Chief Financial Officer

Location: India - Remote

Hours: Significant overlap with U.S. business hours

Type: Full time, contract

Compensation: INR 50+ LPA

About the Role

OvalBrick has been retained by a U.S.-based SaaS technology company to recruit a Chief Financial Officer.

The CFO will work closely with the CEO and executive team to provide financial leadership as the company grows. This is a hands-on role for someone who can combine strategic finance, financial planning, SaaS operating metrics, capital management, and executive decision support.

The CFO will own the company's financial strategy and financial operating model while overseeing accounting, tax, payroll, and compliance activities performed by internal or external specialists. The successful candidate should be able to use financial and operating data to help leadership make better decisions about growth, pricing, hiring, product investment, capital allocation, and company strategy. The role is suited to a finance leader who can move comfortably between financial strategy, detailed modeling, SaaS metrics, executive decision support, fundraising, cash management, and oversight of day-to-day finance operations.

The candidate will be based in India and work remotely with a U.S.-based team. Significant overlap with U.S. business hours is required.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CEO and executive team on financial strategy, annual and long-range planning, business performance, and major investment decisions.

  • Own FP&A, including budgeting, forecasting, scenario modeling, cash-flow planning, and regular reforecasting.

  • Build and maintain the company's financial model across revenue, ARR, headcount, operating expenses, gross margin, cash flow, and runway.

  • Establish reporting and analysis for key SaaS metrics, including ARR/MRR, bookings, churn, NRR/GRR, CAC, LTV, gross margin, sales efficiency, burn multiple, and other relevant operating metrics.

  • Translate financial and operating data into recommendations on hiring, pricing, GTM investments, product initiatives, and resource allocation.

  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Product leadership on revenue forecasting, pricing, customer economics, commissions, and business performance.

  • Maintain disciplined cash and liquidity management, including runway forecasting, banking relationships, payment approvals, and working-capital planning.

  • Support fundraising and financing activities, including financial models, investor materials, due diligence, data-room preparation, and investor discussions.

  • Prepare financial and operating reporting for the CEO, Board, and investors.

  • Oversee accounting, monthly/quarterly close, revenue recognition, payroll, tax filings, audits, and statutory compliance, working with external accountants and specialist advisors where appropriate.

  • Ensure appropriate financial controls, approval processes, policies, and reporting systems are in place as the company scales.

  • Oversee the finance technology stack, including accounting, billing, expense management, payroll, forecasting, and reporting systems.

  • Support commercial decisions including major contracts, pricing structures, discounts, payment terms, and enterprise customer agreements from a financial perspective.

  • Coordinate with legal, tax, accounting, and other external advisors on U.S. and cross-border financial matters.

  • Build the finance function and team as the organization grows.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including substantial senior leadership responsibility in a technology, SaaS, or high-growth company.

  • CA, CPA, CFA, or comparable recognized finance/accounting qualification or previous experience as a CFO, VP Finance, Head of Finance, or similar senior finance executive, combined with an MBA or other relevant advanced business degree. Equivalent experience may be considered for candidates with an exceptional record of financial leadership in SaaS or technology companies.

  • Strong experience in financial planning, forecasting, financial modeling, cash management, and management reporting.

  • Demonstrated understanding of SaaS business models and metrics, including recurring revenue, retention, customer acquisition economics, gross margin, and cash efficiency.

  • Experience partnering directly with CEOs and senior executives on strategy, operating decisions, and resource allocation.

  • Strong commercial judgment and ability to evaluate the financial implications of pricing, hiring, GTM investments, contracts, and product decisions.

  • Experience supporting fundraising, investor reporting, board reporting, or financial due diligence.

  • Ability to oversee accounting, tax, payroll, audit, and compliance functions while effectively managing external accountants and professional advisors.

  • Experience working with U.S.-based companies or executives and the ability to operate effectively across international teams.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance executives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience scaling the finance function of an early or growth-stage company.

  • Venture capital fundraising, venture debt, or other corporate financing experience.

  • Experience with enterprise SaaS contracts and complex or multi-year revenue arrangements.

  • Experience with U.S.–India or other international operations, including multi-entity or cross-border financial coordination.

  • Experience implementing or improving modern financial systems and automating finance workflows.

  • Familiarity with equity compensation, capitalization tables, stock-option administration, and venture-backed company financing.
